So, you've decided to purchase a diamond! Like many other people, you're probably not quite sure where to start. Let us help you get started!

There are some simple steps to help you find the diamond you want. Shopping for a diamond can and should be a pleasant and fun experience.

First and foremost, you should become familiar with the 4 Cs. These are Carat, Cut, Color, and Clarity.

To get the idea, you'll need to know what each of the 4 Cs mean. The carat is the unit of weight measurement for the stone. The cut is the actual cut and final polish of the diamond. Color measures how much or how little color the diamond actually has; and clarity measures the diamond's overall presence of inclusions or flaws.

Once you know what each of the 4 C's means, your next step is to decide how you want to balance each of them in your diamond.

What this means is that you should decide which aspect is the most important to you. Some people want a diamond that has all 4 Cs balanced where as others prefer some aspects over others.

For example, some people prefer better Clarity and Color over the Carat weight. It is really up to you and the choice is made easier the more you know about the 4 Cs.

There is actually a lot more to learn about the 4 Cs on the Abazias website, but you also may always talk directly to one of our diamond specialists to set out on the right foot.

There are five pretty common mistakes that people make when looking for a diamond. If you know them, you can try to avoid them.

Number 1 — Worrying about the weight!

Remember, in diamonds, bigger is not always better. The easiest way to find a beautiful diamond is to sacrifice some of the carat weight in favor of a higher level of cut, clarity, and color.

Number 2 — If the diamond is for HER, learn what SHE wants!

If you are choosing the diamond for someone else, it is a good idea to learn what they like. It is best to consider their preferences and style. Remember, if she doesn't love the ring, she won't be happy wearing it.

Number 3 — Getting the wrong size!

Diamond rings and jewelry are items that she will wear. You wouldn't buy a dress or shoes that are too large or too small, so don't make that mistake with her diamond ring.

Number 4 — Ignoring cut grades!

Everyone wants a diamond that sparkles and shines, but most people don't know that without the proper proportions otherwise wonderful diamonds will look dull. If a diamond is cut too deep or too shallow, the light that enters it will escape rather than being reflected and returned to the eyes. While an "Excellent" cut grade may not be required for a diamond to sparkle and shine, you should pay attention to this in order to get a diamond that will really turn heads.

Number 5 — Paying full retail!

Overhead costs at most brick and mortar jewelry stores are far higher than what Abazias pays. Remember, overhead costs mean higher priced diamonds. Abazias keeps all costs low, which keeps diamond prices low. When we save, you save.

So, hopefully this quick introduction will help you get started shopping for diamonds.

Remember, the more you learn, the easier it will be to find what you are looking for.

At Abazias, our aim is to help you find the diamond that is right for you at the lowest price available.
