Why Settle For A Simple Wedding Band?
Today, many people are customizing both their engagement and wedding rings. With the myriad of cuts, settings, stones, and artistic possibilities available, wedding rings no longer has to be two simple, yellow, bands made of gold.
Some of the traditional ways to customize wedding rings are to personalize them with an engraving or resetting a gemstone from a family heirloom into a new setting. In Europe, the traditional custom is to engrave the name of your intended on the inside of the engagement rings along with the date the marriage will take place.
However, if your tastes are more modern and less traditional, there are a variety of ways to update the classic wedding bands to suit your personal tastes. If you are unsure whether to ditch the gold wedding ring concept all together, you can combine two metals with multiple bands of gold and platinum and thus give a nod to tradition while looking towards the future.
If you want your wedding rings to have a little “bling” there’s nothing stopping people from embedding small diamonds in different colors within the bands. Some people prefer a single, discreet, diamond and others prefer a row of small diamonds or other precious stones to line the wedding rings.
One of the newest trends in wedding bands is to have them engraved on the outside with some artwork that symbolizes aspects of your family. For instance, if you are Irish, Celtic knots might be appropriate. Although, if you just want to let the romantic out in you, you can choose flowers or other romantic symbols to signify your love.
