Camilla's Royal Engagement Ring

On February 10, 2005 Prince Charles finally proposed to Camilla Parker Bowles. This came after years of speculation about weather or not they would ever wed. The engagement ring that Charles gave her actually owned by the Queen Mother, it was a diamond and platinum art deco era ring. The heirloom is said to have an emerald cut center diamond with three diamond baguettes on each side of it. The couple's wedding rings will be made from gold from the Clogau St David's mine which is found in Bontddu, North Wales. Using the gold from this particular mine for their wedding rings is a tradition for the royal family. The designer of the rings was Wartski, a London jeweler who has held the Royal Warrant to The Prince of Wales since 1979. All of the designers for their clothes and hair for the royal event were all based in London.

The wedding itself which was a civil ceremony was held on April 8th 2005 at Windsor Castle. It was followed by a service of prayer and dedication in St George's Chapel. They had expected 700 guests to show up and the Archbishop of Canterbury presided over the service. The Queen did not attend the wedding but she held a reception for the couple in the State Apartment at Windsor Castle.
