If the stone is a higher quality stone, you can still end up paying more for a gemstone. It’s all in the quality of the stone, not the type of stone.

Wherever you choose to get your ring, be sure you get some form of appraisal to certify that value of the ring. This not only helps to ensure the quality of the diamond you have just purchased, but it can also be helpful when or if you decide to insure your diamond engagement ring.
