This is an interesting trend, considering that in the late 90’s most market prognosticators felt that sales of diamonds online did not sound viable, as diamonds are high value items which most are used to handling and examining prior to buying.

As can be seen, buying diamonds online is no longer simply an alternative to diamond buying. The continual growth of sales of diamonds online is a solid indicator that people are becoming far more familiar and comfortable with making purchases of any kind online. While it is unlikely that purchasing retail items in walk-up stores will be disappearing anytime soon, the indicator of diamonds online sales maturation and expansion is truly demonstrative of the growing shopping savvy of the consumer, who now demands not simply a place from which to make purchases of desired items, but who demands that these retailers offer detailed information, convenience and personal assistance.
