Diamond Production To Reach 10 Million Karat In 2008



In 2006 in Angolia the diamond production was eight million karats but according to the chairman of the ENDIAMA they expect that to be up to ten million for 2008. This was said at the firm's 26th anniversary celebration. The chairman also said that the government's strategies and guidelines were fully accomplished for 2006. One of the priorities the company wants to accomplish this year is to commission the prospecting in the provinces of Malanje, Kwanza-Sul, Bi`, Hu¡la, Namibe, Cunene, U¡ge and Moxico.
ENDIAMA Research and Production is a subsidiary to ENDIAMA group and will start independent production this year in the region of Camazanza.

Arnaldo Calado also announced that the equipment for the production is being flown in from the province of Lunda-Norte. ENDIAMA P&P will be carrying out an independent exploration of diamond by over an extension of 3,000 square kilometers. ENDIAMA P&P set up trained qualified personnel capable of carrying out research, evaluation and production activity in 2003 so that they could explore for diamonds with out the help of a third party. He also said that as there are diamonds from the provine of Cabinda down to the province of Cunene. Diamond production started in 1917 in Angola, in October of that year came the emergence of the Angola Diamond Company "DIAMANG".
