Evoking Good Times With Vintage Jewelry

There's no question that vintage is in this year. The large 3-carat diamond engagement rings that are being snapped up by consumers lend a nod of approval to old-time cushion cuts and pear shaped rings. Another fabulous trend is towards anything Art Deco. The rings in this period were mostly fashion rings used for cocktail parties during the prohibition era. The larger and showier the fashion rings, the more people felt uninhibited by the regulations while they drank their gin. These rings remind us collectively of a time when individual freedoms were paraded around despite, or because of, the prevailing restrictions imposed by society.

All vintage jewelry has particular sentiments attached to that era, even if the emotions evoked are just from remembering a grandmother who had a similar piece in her jewelry box. The times and places when people wore types of fashion rings, necklaces, or bracelets can be very attractive to modern buyers who sense a strong pull towards reliving and participating in the emotions of that era.

As the world becomes more global, it can lose its sense of individuality. The era in which we live in becomes more homogenized and less creative. People long for a sense of unique style and appreciate the times when people wore what they did to celebrate a cultural movement, a particular epoch, or had some historical relevance. Vintage jewelry should see a strong resurgence of interest as people dive back into history to reap the treasures there and bring them forward into their own lives.
