Not your mother's pearls


Pearls are making a comeback and not just in the fifty and older age group. Pearls are being used as fashion jewelry once more and it isn't just by the older age group but by the younger age groups as well. Colored pearls being more popular and in than plain white ones. With so many types of pearls the one making the new is the fresh water pearl. The Chinese have found a way to make the pearl round which is a big deal because they are usually found like the shape of Rice Krispies. If you want to invest in genuine pearls you need to seek out a trustworthy dealer. Genuine or manmade pearls are big this season and will last into the spring.

There are two types of pearls genuine which are made in nature and harvested or manmade which is where the sand is placed in the oyster by hand. Either way they are all beautiful and there are five types of pearls. The Akoya pearl which can come in six different colors and they are grown in salt water for 10 to 18 months. The Tahitian pearl is comes in eight colors and are also grown in salt water for two to three years. The south sea pearls like the Tahitian pear is grown in salt water and takes two to three years to grow. This type comes in six different colors. Last but not least is the fresh water pearl are grown mostly in China's fresh water. It takes six months to one year to grow and comes in seven colors.
