The Past, Present, and Future Engagement Ring

This ring is called the past, present and future engagement rings because it has three stones. The middle diamond is typically bigger than the two side diamonds. Other names for this type of diamond ring are the Bostonian diamond engagement ring or the three stone ring. It’s said to hold special significance in terms of a romantic three times the charm love motif. It would indicate your love for your intended in the past, your love currently, and the promise of your future love for the rest of your lives.

The ring is traditionally composed of three round cut diamonds. However, it can be varied by having different cuts on either side of a round cut diamond. Even more variation can be implemented by using different colored diamonds or mounting the diamonds on a vertical band ring for men or a diagonal for women.

The three stone diamond engagement rings have become very popular with celebrities from Madonna to Sharon Stone. Guy Ritchie presented Madonna with a three-stone ring that was to represent their union plus their son Rocco. Sharon Stone received a three stone ring from Phil Bronstein when they adopted their son and on the occasion of their anniversary too. So, the three stone rings can represent the love of a couple or the love of a small family union. It can be given as an engagement ring, an anniversary ring, or on the adoption or birth of a newborn. The symbol still stands for love three times over.
