Diamonds Truly May Be Forever

For many people when they think of a diamond they think immediately of an engagement ring or a diamond anniversary band. The reason behind this thinking is due largely in part to the creative marketing by De Beers with the slogan “A Diamond Is Forever.” People now more than ever think of a diamond as a commitment and not for the actual fact that diamonds are actually forever. Recently scientists have found that diamonds truly are forever in addition to showing everlasting love.

While society is influenced by advertisement on how a diamond is forever, scientists are embracing the reality of how true this statement actually is. A recent discovery in Western Australia of tiny slivers of diamonds that are no larger than a piece of hair are solid proof to scientists that diamonds truly are forever because these diamond slivers are 4 billion years old which makes them 3 billion years older than any other diamond ever found. While these diamond slivers may be of no use in any piece of diamond jewelry they may very well hold a piece of the puzzle in discovering how and when the Earth was formed.
