Gem Diamonds Mine Limited Finds Their Second Largest Diamond

Africa has been ranked one of the largest contributors to the diamond market and even after so many different areas such Canada and Russia has recently been explored, Africa keeps up with the diamond market by continually contributing large carat weight rough diamonds with excellent color and clarity. Recent mining in the Letseng Mine in Lesotho by Gem Diamonds Limited has unearthed a startling diamond weighing 603 carats with great color and clarity. The newly mined 603 carat diamond from the Lesotho Mine is not the first large diamond discovery because just earlier this year a 215 carat D colored flawless diamond was also mined and sold to a private bidder for a 8.3 million dollars.

The Letseng Mine in Lesotho is a newly acquired mine by Gem Diamonds Limited and with the two largest diamond discoveries in the last 13 months seems to be a nice business decision even though Gem Diamonds Limited only owns 70 percent of the Letseng Mine while the Lesotho Government holds the other 30 percent. The Letseng Mine is just one of the many diamond mines that Gem Diamonds Limited has acquired since recently it has made major moves in acquiring The Gope in Botswana and also BDI’s Mining Cempaka in Indonesia in the past six months. The recent discoveries from the Letseng Mine, however, prove to be the most profitable from all of the mines and future exploration of the Letseng Mine and other Gem Diamonds Limited mines will only kept he diamond industry watching for what other large diamonds will be contributed to the diamond industry.
