Sotheby's Geneva to Auction 84.37 Carat Diamond

Sotheby's is a name that rings many bells when it comes to the auctions of fine goods and once again they are drawing attention with another high dollar commodity item they will be auctioning. Sotheby's Geneva will be auctioning a 84.37 carat diamond. This particular diamond, however, is drawing quite some attention for not only the sheer size of this diamond, but for the fact that the diamond is the largest brilliant cut diamond to ever be sold at auction. The 84.37 carat diamond has been graded with D color (colorless) and is considered flawless. Sotheby's estimates the diamonds worth to be in the range of 12 million dollars to 16 million dollars. Sotheby's has set the date of November 14, 2007 for the diamond to be auctioned.

Flawless diamonds are considered very rare and the fact that the diamond that Sotheby's Geneva will be auctioning is flawless and of such a high carat weight has all who have seen the diamond to be amazed by its beauty. David Bennett, who is the auction houses chairmen of jewelry for the Middle East and Europe, finds that the 84.37 carat diamond to be one of the most beautiful and amazing stones that he has ever seen.

Sotheby's Geneva is no new comer when it comes to auctioning off fine diamonds and this 84.37 carat diamond will be in very close competition with another prior diamond auction sell of a 100 carat stone which went for 16.5 million.
