Marriage is a big step that you take in life, a serious commitment to another to spend the rest of your life together in bliss. But for some, that partner is hard to find. From cheating boyfriends to women who would rather shop than be married, it can be difficult to find that one person who you will spend eternity with and see on a daily basis. Many people joke about marrying a favorite pet because that pet will not cheat or talk back or be moody. Well, for a woman in Ghana, that dream has become a reality, a very strange fulfillment indeed. Just recently, Emily Mabou of Ghana wed her trusty canine companion, a handsome Pug.

While one may be inclined to laugh, and rightfully so, many people are sick of the bad behavior exhibited by men and women and love their pets more than they could ever love another human being. In Emily’s case, she was looking for a partner that was similar to her father, who was a loving, trustworthy man who cared about her mother’s feelings. Up to this point, she seemed to only date men who had a tendency to cheat and flirt with the opposite sex. Although her dog may be prone to peeing on fire hydrants, he will love her with no boundaries and as she mentioned, if they want kids, they can just adopt.

With the way the world is changing, this is something that was bound to happen sooner or later. It is amazing to think that we have reached a point in civilization where we can do just about anything we want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. If humans can marry dogs then maybe we will reach a point where we can marry inanimate objects. I mean, I do love my car…a lot! Hmm…
