The votes are in, and everyone has decided that the jewelry worn by Hollywood’s best are the biggest trendsetters yet. Several jewelers are marketing similar pieces for all of us to partake in all the fun. Following are the top styles to choose from.

Chandelier earrings are a huge hit, and Miley Cyrus wore a pair of these dazzlers that were 2 5/8″ tall. Set in platinum and styled with classic design, the young rock star performed three Oscar-nominated songs this year.

Cuff diamond bracelets were all the rage, and seen on Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman’s arms. White and black diamonds, set in multiple-rowed cuffs measuring from 1.25 to 4 inches wide are one of the most popular items this year.

An iconic diamond set design that was worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in 2005 is now available at local jewelers’ counters. The diamond drop earrings and princess necklace are timeless classics perfect for any special occasion.

Vintage and antique looks are all the rage in Hollywood now and it’s fairly easy to find this reflected in any modern diamond design. Earrings, collars and necklaces boasting floral diamond shapes and delicate, colored-diamond accents are most popular.

Mixing diamonds with other colored gemstones have been a perfect option for anyone not making $20 million every time they go to work. Jewelry sets using diamonds paired with rubies, such as the set worn by Emmy Rossum at the Oscars, or sapphires are classic staples.

Reese Witherspoon wore authentic, vintage chandelier diamond earrings with no necklace. Often, if the earrings are long and large enough to make a statement, a necklace may not be needed.

Keira Knightley donned a vintage set of cluster diamond earrings with a matching collar-style necklace. The coordinating pieces were set in platinum molded in the shape of leaves and flowers.

Jennifer Lopez wore fanned chandelier earrings. This style boasts several circles and teardrops of diamonds, creating the look of a waterfall of glitz and glory.

Several different shapes of diamonds are also used in one piece for a trendy look. Many designs this year boast marquis, pear and round cut diamonds in a vintage necklace and drop earrings.

Stacking bangle bracelets is the best way to set off your diamond rings, and this is just what Debra Messing did at the Oscars. White and colored diamonds set in platinum bangles look best when five or more are worn at the same time.

All of 2008′s award shows have set the standard for this year’s designs. When looking for jewelry style inspiration, most retailers look to celebrities and bridal trends. Rare colors, alternative cuts, vintage looks, right hand rings, and colored metals and cuff bracelets have all been spied on the rich and famous.

New and even rarer shades of diamonds seen recently include pink, cognac red, canary yellow, gray, chocolate and black. Black and white diamonds worn together create the most common-seen trends. Set in platinum and other colored metals, gray and chocolate diamonds seem to be a new sight on the red carpet this year.

Besides the rainbow array of colors available, expensive cuts such as emerald and cushion are seen in bridal designs and famous jewel collections. Rose cut is one of the most popular. These diamonds have a flat bottom and faceted top, very similar looking to a tortoise shell. Fancy cuts are used as the main stone or accent stones throughout an ensemble or set.

As designers ramp up their choices and designs reflecting antique styling techniques, the popular vintage jewelry can be found in any jeweler’s selection. Basket settings and filigree carvings create the feel of an old jewel, but doesn’t come with the hassle. Vintage styles are available in larger pieces as well as intricate and feminine classics.

Right hand rings have been seen increasingly on men as well as women this year. These rings give the perfect option for a serious couple not quite ready to make the big commitment, or an independent woman that deserves a valuable reward. These pieces also make it more acceptable to purchase a ring of your own, eliminating the need for someone to gift it to you.

Platinum and gold alloys are used in all designs, and darker versions are especially popular. Black and chocolate versions, as well as rose-colored metals are expected to be seen in bridal settings very soon.

Cuff and stacked bangle bracelets are quite possibly the hottest trend today, outside of large and flowing earring styles. Cuffs can be dressed up for red carpet wear, or down for a trip to the grocery. These bracelets range in widths and sizes, and may hold several cuts or colors of diamonds. Alternating rows of round cut and emerald cut, as well as black and white diamonds, offers any level of formality you prefer.

Great article and totally true, we see an increase in consumers asking for items similar to those worn by celebs when they have been publicised. There is definitely a market for cheaper replicas that’s for sure!!
