67927_bead_necklace_2It’s not quite Goth, but the heavy industrial look this spring does include spikes. It’s pop culture jewelry with attitude and it is going to be lots of fun to buy and wear this spring and summer! The look can be modified from daytime to night just by piling more on because layering is one way to add weight and make a statement. Here is a peek at some of the hottest looks right now in the jewelry world.

    Cuff Bracelets

Get them spiked or studded, from pyramid shapes to spikes made from industrial item like nuts and bolts in leather or different bands of metal. These leather cuff bracelets come in as many colors and you can think of and aren’t just being worn on the wrists. Add some to your ankles to highlight platform shoes, and you’re starting to get the idea this summer.

    Belts

Belts can be adorned with studs and charms also. Belts are worn with summer dresses and can be very wide and have fancy jeweled clasps in the industrial style. Heavily ornamented belts are a favorite of the gothic community, but when made more streamlined, anyone can wear them and still evoke a little attitude. They are excellent accessories to change the look of a piece in your wardrobe just by choosing different belts to wear on different days with the same outfit.

    Chokers and Necklaces

It’s sort of a light bondage look going this season, with chokers being right up there as favorite necklaces to wear. You can hang anything off a choker from safety pins or pop tabs to diamonds. Statement necklaces are still going strong, but now the look is for different metals that can give a whole new exotic look. Geometric shapes that invoke a rock style are also popular for both chokers and statement necklaces.

    Chains

It’s a cross between disco and Goth culture for the chains. Goths love chains, especially on belts and wallets, but you’re going to see tons of them on jewelry from necklaces to bracelets. They’re not going to be your mother’s dainty chains either. Heavy, statement, chains may be worn as one piece or the chains will be layered.

    Homemade Jewelry

If you really want to say something, then opt for the craft jewelry trend, if you’re artistic enough to pull it off. Any industrial material is fair game to make your own cuff bracelets, pendants, or earrings. Use different colored wire or string and add a touch of macramé or crocheting to bring a vintage Goth look to your wardrobe. Knots, especially, complement this look and aren’t particularly hard for the beginner to make.

    Untraditional Metals

No matter if you’re choosing a ring or bracelet, you can hope to score some rose gold to add a little of the coral shade so popular this season. If gold isn’t your thing, stainless steel is very popular, along with silver. Industrial metals like tungsten can add a real dark look to your jewelry, another allusion to gothic culture.
