Have you ever had the chance to buy a diamond ring that was “once owned by the Queen of England,” or was “from the Free Mason period?”
Well, chances are that the dealers selling said diamonds are trying to make the diamond sound better than it really is. They may be beautiful diamonds, but there are some dealers who were just adding lurid details to the diamond to make it look like you are getting a great deal, when really you are getting just a run of the mill, regular, everyday diamond, as much as any sparkling diamond can be considered “everyday.”

Some diamonds and other ancient artifacts from the ancient Egyptian times have said “curses” on them. No matter if one believes that Egyptians can curse beautiful objects such as diamonds, the price does seem to go up, along with the interest of many jewelers and treasure hunters. Maybe dealers think that the only people who would buy regular beautiful diamonds are people who just like the look of the diamond, or they are looking for a diamond to propose to that special someone with. But if a dealer is known to have a diamond that is said to “have powers no human has ever seen,” they are going to attract a lot more attention as a dealer than if they just had regular diamonds.
If a diamond expert and a nonexpert person were brought in, and there were two diamonds on a table, an ancient diamond and an regular diamond, only the professional diamond expert would be able to determine how old the diamond was and possibly where it came from.
In the end, if you want to buy a diamond that has a curse on it, or a diamond that Pope John Paul wore that if perfectly O.K., but a regular diamond is just fine also. Besides, you can still tell your friends it’s from ancient Egyptian times. Who would know?
