An auction house based in Glasgow in Scotland has reported the theft of premiere jewelry almost worth half a million British pounds. The auction house, known simply as Mctear’s Auctioneers, reported the theft to the local police. According to the auction house that is located on Meiklewood Road in the Strathclyde region, around 300 items were stolen from their premises and their aggregate value was to the tune of 430, 000 British pounds.
According to the police, items stolen from the auction house mainly include ladies rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. While the thief got away clean and safe, the closed circuit television cameras did catch a man entering the premises early morning and leaving around 20 minutes later. The man is known to have been picked up by another person driving a car with its headlights on. After this man had left, a member of the staff arrived and saw that the auction house was unlocked, the alarms deactivated and the safes open. As is obvious, the man raised the alarm and called the police.
The police was also forthcoming about the suspect’s description stating that he arrived wearing a black woolen hat, dark clothing and a high viz vest. He was also seen to be carrying a black hold all.
The person in charge of the investigation, Detective Sergeant Jane Dawson from the Strathclyde Police stated that they are looking into possible clues and avenues for tracing the suspects. The police have also released the photographs of the stolen premiere jewelry so as to allow people in the jewelry business to recognize them if someone tries to sell the stolen items to them.
