Diamonds, of course, are the symbol of enduring love when given as part of an engagement ring. Other diamond rings, diamond earrings, diamond bracelets and bangles, and diamond pendants are jewels in most every woman’s jewelry box. There are several trends emerging, or re-emerging, in the diamond jewelry world, including diamond brooches and diamond body jewelry.

Diamond brooches are coming back as fashion accessories, and their new metals and shapes make them easy to wear in these modern times. Diamond brooches can be pinned at the shoulder to accent a classy business suit. Since they’re accessories, they don’t call attention to themselves, but rather bring the whole outfit together.

A diamond brooch is a lovely thing to pin to a scarf, which is becoming more and more a fashion accessory for business women. The settings are often angel and heart shapes, but many other shapes are available including the woman’s initials. The diamonds can be small and numerous, or may surround a larger precious stone or cultured pearl, bringing out its true beauty.

Since diamond brooches have been popular for many generations, many women receive them handed down from previous wearers. They can also be found in upscale antique shops, and if the setting doesn’t suit the purchaser, the stones can easily be reset into a more modern metal or shape. After all, it’s usually the diamonds that hold the value in a diamond jewelry piece.

Body piercing such as eyebrows, noses and belly buttons are becoming accepted fashion accessories, and not just with the very young and funky. While they don’t wear their nose studs or rings all the time, such celebrities as Joss Stone, Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Clarkson all have been seen with nose rings.

A simple diamond stud is the most common facial jewel, and even male celebrities such as rap stars and football stars are wearing the simple diamond stud more and more often. For navel rings, the choice in diamonds is as big as the imagination, with gorgeous jewelry available to decorate the belly piercing.

Diamonds are showing up on unique gifts, too. The professional who wants to make a classy impression can put business cards in a diamond-studded holder. This lovely object brings the lowly business card up a few notches in importance. A letter opener accented with a beautifully cut round or pear shaped diamond makes opening the mail a luxury.

Corporate gift ideas really range all over the field, and are usually given to employees for exemplary service or purchased by upper level management to reward themselves for climbing the corporate ladder. There’s no reason to stop with diamond-studded cufflinks and tie tacks when there are so many diamond-studded gifts available to grace the corporate desk.

Unusual home décor items that have been accented with diamonds and other precious stones include postage stamp dispensers, refrigerator magnets, and even Christmas tree ornaments. For the man who has it all, a diamond-studded tape measure might be just the gift he would never expect.

A truly heart-warming gift that includes diamonds is a picture frame accented with a line of diamonds around the rim. This beautiful picture frame houses photos with style beyond compare. There are even a few available at specialty designer stores which feature a large diamond to anchor the bottom of the frame, surrounded by smaller white diamonds in a circle, much like a beautiful necklace.

These gifts with the added dimension of a finely cut diamond embedded into the usual gold or silver metal are lovely without being showy. Often, several diamonds are set with other precious stones to bring out the true beauty of all the gems.

If money is no object and you would like to acquire truly unusual diamonds to compliment your wardrobe, you could invest in a swimsuit sporting a 103-carat diamond. Only $18 million will make this beauty yours. A truly decadent pair of shoes designed with diamonds and platinum was recently sold for $1 million. You would certainly stand out in the crowd if you wore those shoes to the grocery store!

Diamonds could become a man’s best friend when they adorn luxurious lingerie. Whether it’s just for fun or you have seriously expensive taste, some lingerie designers have produced diamond and ruby studded bra and briefs sets. Others display stunning matching sets with a 10-carat diamond brooch centerpiece on the runway.

One such designer gifted diamond studded bras to six actresses nominated in the Academy Awards Best Actress category. The black strapless numbers were seam-free and decorated with 14 separate diamonds, weighing about four carats. Even if they didn’t all go home with statues, those were some very lucky actresses!

Perhaps most interesting is the $5 million black diamond bra. Cleavage is set off stunningly when it’s supported by 3,575 black diamonds, complimented with 117 1-carat white diamonds and 34 rubies. Undergarments may simply never be the same.

Some of the examples of an unusual use for diamonds are extreme, and these things are available only to those few with great wealth. But the appeal of diamonds reaches beyond the very wealthy, and there are plenty of unique ways to enjoy a bit of sparkle every day.
