The GJEPC is the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council and was formed in 1966 for the advancement of the gem export trade in India. It was created to help consolidate the gem trade in India to assist in the export trade in India. With more than 6,500 members countrywide, the GJEPC helps to educate its members by supplying them with as much information as possible for the advancement of their industry.The role of the GPEJC can be broken into a few categories, covering as many aspects as possible. First, they help with trade facilitation. By undertaking direct promotional activities, they help those in the industry keep up with the latest news and information at trade shows. Another important function is their advisory role in which they help interaction between the industry and government, which includes the implementation of the Kimberley Process.

Training and research is another factor of the GPEJC, in which the agency runs a number of institutes that help further the education and training involved with the gem industry. This is essential to the growth of the industry as a whole in India. And finally, they also involve themselves with varied interests and they publish a newsletter that keeps all members informed of upcoming events and news.
