It seems whenever there is news about the diamond industry, the company, Sarin Technologies is involved. For instance, a recent announcement was made whereby Sarin would take 100% control in Galatea, which is a company in Israel that handles the creation of innovative technology specific for rough and polished diamonds. With the technology, these diamonds and their internal features can be evaluated and analyzed automatically. Although the acquisition will cost Sarin Technologies more than $10 million, it will benefit greatly in the end.The reason is that currently, there is no system known whereby a diamond’s internal features can be checked. With this new technology, rough diamond yield will greatly improve. In addition to helping boost Sarin’s revenue, the range of products will expand and the sale of existing products will increase.
Developed by Galatea, this type of technology has the ability to scan and even map all the internal features of the diamond in a quick and efficient manner. Although there are other types of technology that can do this, none can do this like the technology of Galatea. It is estimated that it will take approximately one year for Sarin Technologies to reap the full benefits but when it does, the results will be tremendous.
Another piece of news specific to Sarin Technologies is that it has acquired 23% of IDEX Online. The cost of this acquisition was more than $3 million, again with great benefits in sight. Although the acquisition will not be fully completed until the summer of 2009, everything is already in process. IDEX Online is a company that was first established in 2000.
Recognized as an international operator of business to business, polished diamonds, as well as a portal for news, price index controller for polished stones, and a publisher of a leading trade magazine specific to diamonds, Sarin is getting a lot for the money. With this particular acquisition, although there is an initial investment of money, Sarin will be able to invest another $3 million down the road.
The diamond industry is always changing, which is why using online resources is so powerful. Sarin Technologies understands this connection, knowing they need to do more to get word out about the changes and helping importers, exporters, buyers, dealers, and other interested parties of diamonds can gain valuable information and insight.
Sarin Technologies is also working to increase markets in other areas specific to the manufacturing and polishing of diamonds. For instance, Sarin has plans to increase presence in South Africa, as well as China. Because the demand for diamonds has risen significantly in both areas of the world, Sarin Technologies feels they need to reach out by establishing satellite offices such as the one they created in India back in 2004.
With the new Indian office, Sarin Technologies was able to boost sales to more than $19 million in the first nine months. Compared to the previous year for the same time of year, that meant that sales in India were increased by almost 21%! Working hard to maintain a presence, these new offices will add incredible value.
There was even news back in 2007 that Sarin Technologies was heavily involved with the Hong Kong Jewelry and Watch Fair, displaying a number of new products specific to the diamond industry. In addition, Sarin created information that would be provided to interested parties, explaining the DiaExpert Nano machine, a machine that could handle the smaller stones.
While Sarin had many exciting items on display at this diamond trade show, the high-tech color grading machine was one of the most popular. Used on polished diamonds, this machine, known as the Colibri, could not only measure but also grade colored diamonds, along with the level and intensity of fluorescence.
Sarin Technologies also had another product on display for the Hong Kong diamond trade show known as the “Sarin to Go“. This special device could create a digital report that would allow companies to burn, upload, and even distribute all types of valuable diamond information to CD’s. With this information, customers could easily be given a CD and learn everything needed. Without doubt, the new products produced by Sarin are innovative and exciting.
The machine designed for small, rough stones has taken the market by storm. This machine was originally developed for the Indian market but other countries are finding it to be highly useful. The way the DiaExpert Nano machine works is by making a mark on the stone using a laser light specific to information provided by another system called the Advisor.
With this advanced software program, mapping and planning for rough, small diamonds could be done to precision. Using a high-tech and sophisticated laser system, grooves, holes, and other areas on the diamond are clearly and easily marked. This means all types of rough diamonds could be analyzed accurately. As a result over 400 diamonds can be processed every eight hours, something impossible to do prior to using the machine and computer software program.
