While it was feared that this movie might have damaged the diamond industry, the truth is it only brought awareness to the issue and made those in the market for diamonds become more confident in their purchases.
Many consumers who were concerned with the conflict diamond issue utilized searches online to gain their information. The Internet holds vast amounts of information, but those sites that offer diamonds online maintained articles and facts that pertained to the conflict diamond issue that made it easy for those seeking information to find it in a cinch.
The conflict diamond issue has been under control since 2000 due to the Kimberley Process.
