jacob-center.jpgIn a press release issued on May 19th by the GIA, Geological Institute of America, the date of the 18th Annual Jewelry Career Fair was announced. According to the press release, the event will take place on Friday, July 25th 2008. The event will be at the lavish Jacob Javits Center in New York City. While this may not mean much to those purchasing diamonds, a significant event will affect those that work in the industry.

The Jewelry Career Fair is an event that helps bring together the most important and distinguished leaders in the diamond industry. This includes leaders as well as influential executives as well as many others who are making their place known in the diamond and jewelry institution. The goal of the fair is to bring together both those that are talented and looking for a profession in the jewelry industry and those that are looking for individuals like this. Some of the top companies in the industry will have representation at the Career Fair.

The theme of the 2008 event will be “Working to Win” in which a leading panel of the most well known enthusiasts will be present. They will give an insight into what the professional entails, including what successes that one can find within the industry. The gem industry, of course, has been one of the most lucrative for those that break in, but the process is very difficult to do. Only the smallest percentage of those that apply to get into the gemological industry are able to find successful positions within the industry.

Those that will be in the panel are what many believe to be among the leading professionals in the industry including designers, company presidents and CEO’s as well as marketing representatives. The executives, a representative from the GIA said, will be the top executives in the industry who are at the top of their game. They will be brought together to talk about what the industry’s future is as well as how individuals hoping to break into the industry can do so successfully.

The Jewelry Career Fair will be an ideal location for those who are hoping to break into the industry to do so. However, the daylong event will do much more than simply match up recruiters with interested individuals. Rather, the event’s event will also provide career-coaching sessions with those that attend. In addition to this, there will be full immigration law workshop on site, to help provide questions and answers to those that need them, including looking at the difficulties working in such an international market.

A new addition to the event is the jewelry design panel, which will help to discuss and strategize about how design will come to fruition but more so on the design features and methods that are likely to be prominent throughout the coming months and years. Design is one of the leading topics and the most interesting of the panels. Executives from top diamond and jewelry design firms will be available at the event to work with those interested in it.

Another panel that those that attend the event will be able to partake in will be a “marketing yourself for success” panel. Like the other panels, lead professionals will be available to talk to those interested on how to change the way they are presenting themselves so that they become more lucrative prospects and in turn find the employment they are seeking.

The event is a notable one. In the past, it has helped to bring together some of the most brilliant of minds in the diamond industry and has helped people like Rahul Kadakia, who is the G.G. and Senior Vice President for the prestige Christies. He, as well as others, once was once as fresh and new as those that will attend the event. In fact, he was able to secure his position by attending the same Career Fair in 1996. This information was available readily through a press release from the GIA directly.

There is much hope and a lot of excitement around this career fair. It has continuously been a successful event for the nonprofit organization for many years. The event will run at the Jacob Javits Center and will take place between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm. Even better, this star-studded event is free and open to anyone that is interested in a career in the diamond industry, at various levels.

Those considering attending are welcome to do so. Take note of the event’s date, time and location because the event will quickly fill up as it is a popular way for individuals interested in a career in the diamond and jewelry industry to find that door to get their foot into.
