Crystals and gemstones have had a unique lore in the metaphysical and spiritual realms. Diamonds, in particular, are stones that have many magical and healing properties. The way they are created has led many people to believe that they are associated with the element of fire since they are born in lava tubs that spurt out of volcanic eruptions. In addition, their scintillating qualities reflect an inner fire that speaks to romantics of love and purity.
A Perfect Stone
The most evident quality of diamonds is that it is truly a perfect stone. This is why it is often associated with purity. They are so prized for this quality that some people believe that they can be used to create a bridge between the spiritual and the earthly realms. Diamonds were also known to be indestructible and so were used to guard against injury or death in battle.
The Element of Fire
In the past, most medicine was based on the philosophical premise that there were energies that affected specific parts of the body depending on whether they were earth, wind, fire, or water energies. This type of medicine is still used in China (using elements with other names like wood) and other countries, even though the United States has long since forgotten this method of health treatment.
Fire is associated with the eyes and the reproductive organs. For that reason, diamonds are thought to be able help heal poor eyesight or problems with the eyes. The connection between diamonds and the reproductive system might be another reason that the engagement ring is put on the fourth finger of the left hand, typically associated with the element of air, not fire. However, the diamond’s own protection against reproductive maladies ties in well with it covering the spot on the hand most linked with energies of the heart.
A Natural Amplifier
Spiritual people may associate diamonds, as well as other crystals, with an amplifying effect on other energies. If you have some love energy, having a diamond in your vicinity amplifies those energies. Unfortunately, if you are having discord in your relationship, the diamond will amplify those emotions too. So there are admonitions not to wear diamonds in times of conflict. Diamonds are also considered wonderful for opening the heart chakra and amplifying the energies of compassion, even though the heart is associated with air energies, and not fire. It is the fiery aspect of diamonds that enlivens and rejuvenates all energies, whether they are good or bad.
Protecting Your Diamond’s Vibration
Once you understand the philosophy of amplification that crystals are said to have, you can then understand why some people take great care to only allow their gemstones and diamonds in areas that won’t pollute their energies, and they make an attempt keep them spiritually elevated. This can be done by not wearing diamonds in conflict situations and also cleansing a gemstone or crystal that has been ethereally polluted. There are many different practices from putting the stones into sacred areas to soaking them in water under moonlight. Many people will try anything to cleanse their diamonds of discord.

And, Dave, I am forever grateful to a 25-year-old hard-ass guitar teacher who was oblivious and insensitive to the demands of my life as a mom with a full-time desk job. He had no interest in teaching to the professional-on-lunch-break level. And my schedule wouldn’t allow me to go to any other teacher. Quitting would have been like giving up the last vestige of youth. So, I figured out a way to stay with him and get my ass kicked.
