When thinking of trendy celebrities, whether you like her or not, Paris Hilton is likely to make your list. Whether you are one of the fans who follow every news story or are someone who still wonders how she can be everywhere all the time, most people are fascinated by the heiress and her antics. Hilton is famous for many things, from her sometimes clueless statements to her less than stellar driving skills. One thing Paris Hilton is definitely known for is a love of high priced jewelry. A robber took that fact to heart recently when over two million dollars of the heiress’s jewelry was stolen from her home.
According to surveillance, the robber was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and moved through the house like he or she knew exactly where to go. It is possible that it was someone who had been in the home before, or someone who had carefully spied on Ms. Hilton. Worth noting is that the point of entry chosen for the robbery, which happened while nobody was home, was through the main door, which Ms. Hilton forgot to lock.
Many hypothesize that the robber or robbers had been present at one of the many lavish house parties thrown by Hilton. Often there are numerous guests at these parties that are not personally known to Ms. Hilton, and many believe that someone attended these parties and used the opportunity to personally survey the premises to help plan and execute the robbery. There have yet to be any suspects named in the case.
Among the missing jewelry, totaling over two million dollars in value, were numerous diamonds and other gems, rings, necklaces, watches, and most importantly, family heirlooms from Hilton’s grandmothers. The heiress is clearly devastated by the loss of the family treasures, and cause the theft devastating, stating that the robbers “took items that had such sentimental value that no one will ever be able to replace.”
Famous for being the heir to the Hilton Hotel fortune as well as for being the niece of noted 1970’s actresses Kim and Kyle Richards, Paris Hilton is likely unfazed by the monetary value of the stolen assets. It is the sentimental and family value, rather, that upsets the heiress. While she has more than enough money to replace the goods, they can never be replaced because of their origins within the family. Law enforcement officials are working very hard to discover and capture the suspect or suspects and return the heiress’s jewelry as soon as possible.
Trouble seems to follow the heiress in recent years, with the robbery coming on the heels of a DUI in 2007 as well as the theft last year of her beloved dog, Tinkerbell. The dog was returned safely, however, and has been joined by a male Chihuahua in the Hilton home. In light of the holidays, in fact, the dogs have been given their own personal pink Christmas tree inside their doghouse. Prior to the robbery, it seemed everything was finally going well for the heiress; with her television show “My New BFF” doing well and the musical “Repo!” in which she sings and acts garnering rave reviews, particularly for her performance. Her nine month relationship with Good Charlotte singer Benji Madden has recently ended as well, shortly after Hilton announced that she intended to marry Madden. While the reason for the split has not been confirmed, it has been well noted that the two remain close, with Paris stating that she is “still in love with him.” Perhaps the future holds reconciliation for the couple. Notably, Paris’s ex-best friend Nicole Ritchie is married to Madden’s twin brother Joel, and the couple recently enjoyed the birth of their first child.
While devastated by the robbery, Hilton seems to be moving forward. With a new musical and a tamer social life, the public is beginning to see a new side of Paris. Gone are the days of drunken club videos and wild antics; we are instead often treated to pictures of Paris talking to paparazzi or strolling out and about with Benji Madden. She still maintains an active social life, spending time with “My New BFF” winner Brittany Flickinger, but seems to have reeled in the antics that originally put her in the spotlight, much to the delight of many fans. The public is finally beginning to see the intelligent side of the actress, and in showing this, she is finally beginning to garner some respect from those who know little about her outside of the news. The robbery that occurred in the Hilton home was unfortunate, but thankfully the actress was not home and seems to be handling the stress. While perhaps she should be more careful to lock her doors and to manage guests at her parties, the actress is doing quite well; something longtime fans have always wanted to see.
