235957_diamond_ring.jpgWhile a diamond ring is forever, sometimes the engagement that the diamond cements is forever and sometimes it is not. One thing we know for sure, the diamond is not the cause of the broken marriages and engagements that they began, but is it possible that some of these diamonds have kept a few of these couples together?Celebrities are a prime example of couples who are on one day and off the next, regardless of the size of the diamond that he gave her. She can only hope that she gets to keep the gorgeous diamond ring if the engagement does not work out.

Some celebrities that have given their fiancés fabulous diamonds only to break off with their fiancé or later their spouse include Brad Pitt, Jude Law, Ben Affleck, Paul McCartney, Nick Lachey and Kevin Federline. Brad helped his jeweler design the modest engagement ring that he gave Jennifer Anniston, but the love that he put into the ring obviously did not transfer to the bride.

Jude Law left his wife for Sienna Miller and gave her a huge round brilliant cut diamond surrounded by nine smaller diamonds set in platinum as an engagement gift. Unfortunately, the gift of the engagement ring did not stop him from cheating on her before they were even married, saving her the trouble of having to divorce him later.

Ben Affleck gave Jennifer Lopez a six-carat, seven hundred thousand dollar pink solitaire diamond ring as an engagement present, but things just did not work out for them. Soon thereafter, Ben gave his soon to be wife, Jennifer Garner, a four and a half carat diamond engagement ring, worth approximately half as much, but that seems to have done the job.

Paul McCartney bestowed a beautiful and grand blue diamond upon Heather Mills and married her. However, after a few years of problems with the stepchildren, Paul and Heather called it quits and Heather kept the expensive ring. Likewise, Nick Lachey and Kevin Federline got so far as to marry the women to whom they gave expensive diamond engagement rings, but when the marriages fell apart, the women kept the rings.

Of course, in Kevin Federline’s case it would only be fair for his ex to keep the ring, as his ex-wife, Britney Spears probably paid for it in the first place. It is amazing what some people will do to keep up with status quo, is it not?

Now that you have had a taste of all of the relationships that did not work out, even after the fine engagement gifts that people have offered, it is time for you to hear about a few relationships that not only ended in marriage, but that have also continued in as much strength as the diamond rings that they exchanged.

A few widely publicized engagements that featured chatter about the engagement ring include the engagement between Prince Charles and Camille Parker Bowles, the engagement between David Beckham and Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), the engagement between Len Wiseman and Kate Beckinsale and the engagement between Seal and Heidi Klum.

The ring that Prince Charles gave to Camille Parker Bowles may not have been from the Crown Jewels, but it is a platinum and diamond Art Deco era ring once owned by the Queen Mother. From mother to daughter, this ring seems to be bringing familial bliss to the couple since their marriage.

David Beckham bought his lovely fiancé, Victoria, a lovely diamond ring that she proudly flaunts wherever she goes. This ring features a $40,000 marquise-cut solitaire diamond set in platinum.

Len Wiseman gave Kate Beckinsale a lovely princess cut diamond as an engagement gift and when people see her wearing it, they comment on how much it compliments her style. Kate says her young daughter, Lily, loves to wear the engagement ring because Daddy gave it to Mommy.

Seal, Heidi Klum’s second husband, gave her a beautiful and large ring (ten carats) as an engagement gift. While it is large, making it worth about $100,000.00, it would be worth a great deal more if the diamond were a canary yellow ring instead of the light yellow ring that it is.

Nevertheless, Heidi wears the ring with such love that every time she moves her hand, she positions it to show the whole world how much she loves the ring. While some women might need a more expensive canary yellow diamond, Seal knew that Heidi preferred the elongated Art Deco shape of the ring that he gave her and that such a ring would accentuate Heidi’s long fingers.

Heidi is a supermodel who loves to stay current with fashion and since the current fashion is to wear bulkier geometrically shaped stones, this yellow diamond fits perfectly into this fashion trend. Perhaps if every man truly considered the desires of his bride to be, getting her the exact diamond that he knows she wants, more marriages would end up as happy as Seal’s and Heidi’s.
