Question Scared to buy

So I met the girl... fell in love... am ready to take the plunge... but am afraid to buy. I don't wanna pay too mcuh, so I'm lookin online, but is it really safe to buy online?!? How do I know I'm gettin what I'm paying for, or that i'll get anything once I send them the money?!? There's all these C's I have to know about, but I think I have them firgured out... but ther's this huge price range for the quality I'm looking at, does anyone know why? I just wanna get a good diamond, for a good price to give to my girl... so she doesn't laugh when I give it to her or find out in a few months i'm a dope and paid way too much. Please HELP!!!

The best advice I can give is DO YOUR RESEARCH. If you are set on buying online, make sure you read all terms and conditions. Most sites have a review period so that you can take the diamond to an independent appraiser to have it checked out to make sure it is what they say it is. The most important rule is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! If the diamond quality and price seem to good to be true, than there is probably something undesirable about the diamond. Most sites also have extensive education sections that can teach you all about the 4 Cs. PS. Don't let surfboy_vegas pick out the diamond for you!

I think the best idea is to do as much research as possible. If you have questions, call someone who specializes in them. That's going to be the best approach, at least at first.

Thanks guys for your help!!! Ima do all my research... and prolly call and talk to someone that can give a little more guidance. Is it a good idea to talk to a jeweler in my area before buying online? if i buy it online can i take it to a jewelry store to make sure I got the right thing?

I have to be honest. your local jeweler probably won't encourage the online route, simply because he's in the biz to make a profit for himself as well. I do think it's a good idea to look at different shapes of stones in person, but I wouldn't go in and advertise you are looking online as well.
