Help!!! I would really love to upgrade the diamond in my engagement ring, but I do not want to hurt my husband's feelings. Is this a common practice? If so, does anyone have any pointers as far as bringing up the subject? I have made off hand comments over the past year or so (because our 20th anniversary is coming up), but I don't think he is taking the hint. Am I a horrible wife for wanting to upgrade?
I don't think you are a horrible wife for wanting to upgrade at all! Many people upgrade later on in life. I would suggest doing one of two things, mention that instead of a trip or some other gift for your anniversary, why not get a bigger stone for your engagement ring. You could either trade up with the one you have now, OR keep it and put it in a pendant if you still want it for sentimental reasons!
