The ring I would choose is a princess cut solitaire channel set for my mother, when I was 3 1/2 years old my dad died and there were three of us children, I was the oldest, my brother 17 months and sister 3 months and my mom was under 21 years of age, she eventually remarried again but money was always tight and she had pawnwd her engagemnent ring and wedding band tp provide for us children and she never had the money to get it back from the pawn shop and to this day even though she would have been married 52 years this past April 30, she still looks to someday find a set that resembles what she had lost. I would present it to her as remembrance of the ring she lost from my deceased father.

If I could choose any jewelry piece to represent a remarkable human being that has been the most influential and inspiring person in my life because of her undying love, support and belief in my abilities—that exceptional individual would be my mother. Her unconditional love and inexhaustible support has not only touched my life as her daughter, but also anyone who has come into contact with her and has been blessed by her beautiful heart and giving soul. She has come to the U.S. with nothing leaving behind her security, family and friends and has built a beautiful life for our family. She is the most gentle, sacrificing and self-less human being I have ever encountered. She put aside her career to enhance my father’s. She obtained a job working 70 hours a week to provide me with an excellent education. She has paid for nine years of tuition that included graduate school so that I could finish my doctorate degree in the social sciences without debt. She is the epitome of a mother and wife. I am fortunate to have such an extraordinary role-model. If I could be 50% of the mother and wife that she is, my future family would be extremely fortunate. During my years growing up she never purchased anything for herself so that my father and I could purchase new necessities. She has always put everyone’s needs before her own. If anyone is in need of support, my mother is the first person to be called because of her dependability and caring nature. Her emotional support and guidance has made me the respectable and loving person that I am today. She has given me the courage to believe in myself. She touches people’s lives with her love, kindness and compassion. To paint a picture of my mother’s self-sacrificing nature: she states that she does not have money to buy a new pair of shoes, her current shoes being rugged and at least 10 years old, but she has money to donate on a monthly basis to at least three charities. My mother even cuts her own hair and refuses to allow me to take her to a hair dresser because she does not want me to spend money on her. She is a piece of work!

Nonetheless, if I was to choose a piece of jewelry to present to her, I would choose a platinum diamond tennis bracelet. I would choose a platinum metal because it is precious, rare, strong, durable and shiny as my mother. The diamonds would represent her durability, beauty, brilliance and luster. Lastly, I would choose a bracelet because a brace is a device that supports, builds, connects or aligns. She is my greatest strength and has enriched my life with her love, guidance, support and wisdom.

I would present this gift to my mom by taking her out to her favorite restuarant and saying the following, “Mom, you are the most incredible human being I have ever encountered. You have inspired me to realize my fullest potential through your love, support and faith. I am aware of how blessed I am to have such a remarkable mother who is willing to put me first so that my life can be enhanced. I have the deepest appreciation for you and everything that you do for our family. If I can be 50% of the mother and wife that you are, I will be an outstanding mother and wife. You are my greatest role-model, my best friend and my world. You taught me how to love, be kind, genuine and make a contribution. Thank you for being such an astonishing human being and the most magnificent mother. I love you dearly and more than words can justly convey.” Then I would hand her the gift in a gift bag with a red hand-made card in the shape of a heart with my entry printed on it. We would kiss, embrace and cry afterwards and I would thank her again and tell her how wonderful she is and how important she is to me.

She is not just a godly wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt etc; She is also a full-time pastor's wife, school principal, and daycare director. She is the most self-less person in the world, and never buys anything for herself except from garage sales.

At this time, my husband I are now living with her and my dad for at least a couple of years. We sold our house to pay for infertility medical expenses and are here saving for international adoption.
